When I was in highschool I always wanted to wear all colors together. I didn’t even think about what other people thought about me. I was an outsider.
The orange color, abstract forms and different details of these two garments express the feelings I had back then. I started this designing process by making draperies but also with collages, because I needed abstract forms and color to express my feelings. The orange color is a color that is loved and hated and that’s how I felt back then.
ILLICIT was a shoe designing project that I worked on as a collaboration with two other designers; Femke and Katinka. We wanted to make a shoe for people who want to be different, expressive and have their own opinion. That’s why we named the shoe ILLICIT. In the sole of the shoe we engraved the word ILLICIT and in other designs other statement words. We want the people who wear our shoes to make a statement by making a stamp in the ground.
ILLICIT runs closely together with the project about my high school experience, which is why this together is forbidden; to break boundaries.
